Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, working in collaboration with members of the Forest Guard, have arrested a suspected logistics supplier to Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State.

Security sources disclosed that the suspect, identified as Girema Aliko, 40, was apprehended at about 5:30 p.m. on June 1 at the Benisheikh Market in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of the state.

According to the sources, Aliko had been on the watchlist of troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade due to alleged links with terrorist elements operating in the region.

Items recovered from the suspect at the time of his arrest included a Toyota vehicle and 30 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect was involved in providing fuel and other logistics supplies to Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters. During interrogation, Aliko reportedly confessed to supplying petroleum products and other essential items to the terrorists.

The suspect is currently being held by the 29 Task Force Brigade for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Military authorities said the arrest is part of ongoing operations aimed at disrupting terrorist logistics networks, cutting off supply routes, and denying insurgent groups the resources needed to sustain their activities across the North-East theatre.
