The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dismissed as fake a list currently circulating on various platforms purporting to show the number and identities of inmates in Ethiopian prisons.

In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Ministry urged the public to disregard the document, describing it as false and misleading.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that the list currently in circulation as purported number of inmates in Ethiopian prisons is fake. Kindly disregard it,” the statement said.

The Ministry advised members of the public and media organisations to rely only on official communications from the Ministry for accurate information regarding Nigerians abroad and related diplomatic matters.

It further cautioned against the spread of unverified information capable of causing confusion and misinformation among the public.
