The Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its ongoing fight against crime, rescuing a kidnapped victim, arresting three suspected armed robbers, and recovering a locally fabricated pistol and hard drugs in separate operations across the state.
The Command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad (SAKU) successfully rescued a male kidnap victim unharmed without the payment of ransom after a coordinated intelligence-led operation.
According to the police, the victim was abducted by armed men in Okpanam on June 10, 2026. Following a report received on June 11, operatives immediately launched a strategic operation, deploying intelligence assets to track down the kidnappers and secure the victim’s release.
The sustained pressure mounted on the suspects forced them to abandon the victim and flee their hideout. The victim was subsequently rescued, debriefed, and reunited with his family.
Police authorities said efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the fleeing kidnappers.
In a separate operation, operatives of the Distress 01 Patrol Team attached to the Department of Operations arrested three suspected armed robbers during a routine patrol in Asaba on June 12 at about 12:30 p.m.
The suspects, identified as Ewendeze De-Grace, 19, Eruweghene Amede, 20, and Chukwuemeka Arinze, 21, were intercepted while travelling in a tricycle. A search conducted on them led to the recovery of a locally fabricated Beretta pistol.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are members of the Aro Bagger Confraternity. They remain in police custody while investigations continue.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Kwale Division, acting on credible intelligence, raided a suspected drug distribution point in Kwale on June 10.
During the operation, two male suspects fled the scene, while a 45-year-old woman, identified as Ananyi Vivian, was arrested. Police said investigations indicated that the premises were being used for illicit drug-related activities.
The suspect reportedly admitted being aware of the illegal activities taking place at the location. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and prosecute all individuals connected to the drug operation.
The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended officers involved in the successful operations for their professionalism and dedication to duty.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating crime and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support law enforcement efforts in keeping the state safe.
