Delta DCP Operations Adejobi Reaffirms Commitment to Crime Fight, Rejects Pressure to Shield Offenders

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations at the Delta State Police Command, Adejobi Olumuyiwa, has reaffirmed his commitment to combating crime and criminality, declaring that no amount of pressure or influence would deter security agencies from carrying out their constitutional duties.

Adejobi, widely regarded as a disciplined and principled officer, stressed that integrity, justice, and professionalism must remain the foundation of policing and public service.

In a post on his verified X account, the senior police officer condemned attempts by individuals to seek favours for criminal suspects, describing such actions as detrimental to the rule of law and ongoing efforts to build a safer society.

“I always maintain my stance and principles when it comes to fighting crimes and criminality. Don’t even bother to contact me, pleading for a criminal. It’s shameful, and it won’t work out well,” he stated.

The DCP further warned that those who exert pressure on law enforcement agencies to release, pardon, or overlook criminal acts contribute to the persistence of criminality in society.

“Anyone begging and mounting pressure on the police and security agencies to release or pardon a criminal or overlook a crime is also a criminal. No two ways about it. Check yourself,” he said.

According to Adejobi, the fight against crime requires firmness, consistency, and the collective commitment of citizens, community leaders, and security agencies. He noted that attempts to compromise investigations or shield offenders from justice only embolden criminal elements and undermine public confidence in the justice system.

He urged Nigerians to support security agencies by providing credible information, respecting the rule of law, and refraining from interfering in lawful investigations and prosecutions.

“We need to stand firm and remain resolute in curbing crimes and vices in our society, collectively,” he added.

The remarks come amid intensified efforts by security agencies nationwide to strengthen crime-fighting strategies, enhance public safety, and ensure that perpetrators of criminal activities are brought to justice without fear or favour.

Security experts have described Adejobi’s position as a strong reaffirmation of accountability, professionalism, and impartial law enforcement, emphasizing that effective policing can only thrive when the rule of law prevails over personal interests and undue influence
