The security analysis group, Zagazola Makama, has issued an official statement distancing itself from a fake X (formerly Twitter) account allegedly impersonating its brand and identity online.
In the statement released on Saturday, the group clarified that its only verified and official X account is @ZagazOlaMakama, warning the public against engaging with another account identified as @zmakama32755.
According to the group, the fake handle has no affiliation whatsoever with Zagazola Makama, which it described as a network of security analysts and counter-insurgency experts operating across the Lake Chad region and West Africa.
The group further disclosed that it is preparing to take legal action against the operators of the impersonating account as well as any individuals or organisations misusing its name or reputation.
“We have zero affiliation with the fake account @zmakama32755, which is impersonating the Zagazola Makama brand name,” the statement read.
The organisation urged members of the public and the X community not to follow, engage, send direct messages, or share content originating from the alleged fake account.
It also advised users to immediately report the handle for impersonation, stressing that all authentic communications should only be trusted when issued through the verified account, @ZagazOlaMakama.
The statement concluded by thanking supporters and followers for their vigilance and continued support.
