Troops of Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace, have responded to an attack on a farmer in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, leading to the arrest of the father of the suspected attacker and the recovery of three motorcycles.
Security sources disclosed that the incident occurred on May 28 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at Hai Kurra Fall following a dispute over grazing activities on farmland.
According to the sources, the victim, identified as Mr. Isah Ahmad, was allegedly attacked by a herder after resisting attempts to graze cattle on his farm. The farmer sustained injuries during the altercation, while the suspected attacker fled the scene before security operatives arrived.
Following a distress report, troops launched a follow-up operation in the area and arrested the father of the fleeing suspect, identified as Mr. Umar Abdullahi.
The sources further revealed that a search conducted in the village led to the recovery of three Boxer motorcycles suspected to be linked to the case.
The injured farmer was immediately evacuated to a medical facility in Makoli Village, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Security authorities said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and ensure that all those connected to the incident are brought to justice.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by security forces to maintain peace and prevent further escalation of tensions in communities affected by farmer-herder disputes in Plateau State.
