The Delta State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities, arresting 15 suspected cultists and armed robbers in a series of coordinated operations across the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed in a statement that the arrests followed intelligence-led raids carried out by operatives of Safe Delta, Operation Delta Sweep, and Operation Delta Shield.

According to the statement, on April 27, 2026, at about 11:30 a.m., police operatives stormed a notorious hideout known as Best Lodge in Oko Community on the directive of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations. The raid led to the arrest of 14 suspects, comprising 13 males and one female.

Items recovered during the operation included a locally made cut-to-size pistol, three live cartridges, two bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, four daggers, a cutlass, several mobile phones, and ₦133,100 believed to be proceeds of crime. Police said investigations are ongoing.

In a separate operation later the same day, operatives of Operation Delta Shield intercepted a 26-year-old suspect, identified as Chidebere Irunkwor, during a stop-and-search along Kingsley Street.

A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, two live cartridges, and 10 euros. Preliminary findings linked the suspect to the Eiye confraternity, a known cult group. He is currently in custody as investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police reiterated the command’s commitment to proactive and intelligence-driven policing, vowing to sustain pressure on criminal elements across the state. He also urged residents to provide timely and credible information to support ongoing security efforts, assuring that all tips would be handled with strict confidentiality.
