Troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have sustained offensive operations against terrorists and criminal elements across parts of Katsina State, neutralizing three suspected terrorists, recovering rustled livestock, and dismantling a drug trafficking ring.
The operation, conducted on May 9, 2026, targeted criminal hideouts in Matazu, Musawa, Kankia, Dutsin-Ma, and Malumfashi Local Government Areas.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, troops of the 171 Battalion deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) FUDMA laid a successful ambush along the Matazu–Dutsin-Ma axis following credible intelligence on fleeing terrorists.
During the ensuing gun battle, troops neutralized three terrorists and recovered two AK-47 rifles with loaded magazines, one motorcycle, three cutlasses, and assorted charms.
In a separate clearance operation, troops supported by the Katsina State Community Watch Corps raided terrorist enclaves in Torcachi, Giginya, and Tashar Ganji villages within Matazu, Musawa, and Kankia LGAs.
The sustained military pressure reportedly forced the terrorists to abandon their camps and flee, leading to the recovery of 175 rustled livestock. The recovered animals are currently in military custody pending transfer to appropriate local authorities in Matazu LGA.
Meanwhile, troops of FOB Malumfashi, in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), carried out a raid at Kauyan Dawo in Malumfashi LGA, resulting in the arrest of six suspected drug peddlers.
The suspects were identified as Sani Rabiu (25), Umar Nasiru (22), Abulkubus Aminu (35), Abdullahi Halilu (27), Abubakar Rabiu (22), and Abubakar Dahiru (33).
Items recovered during the operation included 82.5 grams of suspected Cannabis Sativa, 15.7 grams of Exol-5, and 1.8 grams of D5.
The suspects and recovered narcotics have been handed over to the NDLEA Malumfashi Area Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustained military offensives against terrorists and criminal networks across the North-West, while urging residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies.
