The Force Commander of the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Major General Saidu Audu, has called for stronger collaboration and enhanced synergy among regional security forces to sustain the fight against terrorism in the Lake Chad region and North East Nigeria.
Major General Audu made the call during an operational visit to the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Tuesday.
According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the visit was aimed at strengthening joint operations between the MNJTF Headquarters in N’Djamena and Operation HADIN KAI through strategic engagements and operational consultations.
During the visit, the MNJTF Force Commander received a comprehensive operational briefing on the activities of OPHK and participated in an interactive session with senior military officers.
Audu said the engagement was designed to generate ideas capable of improving operational successes and deepening collaboration between the two formations.
He stressed that collective action remained the most effective approach to dismantling terrorist networks and denying insurgents freedom of movement within the region.
The Force Commander described the MNJTF as a unique multinational military alliance made up of troops from contributing countries working together to combat terrorism and insecurity across the Lake Chad Basin.
While commending the Theatre Commander of Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, for the warm reception, Audu praised the operational achievements recorded by troops in the North East, noting that their efforts had significantly degraded insurgent activities.
In his remarks, the Theatre Commander described the visit as timely and strategic, saying it would further enhance operational effectiveness and cooperation between OPHK and the MNJTF.
Abubakar reaffirmed Operation HADIN KAI’s commitment to sustained collaboration with the MNJTF in the ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency, while emphasizing efforts to protect lives and property and support socio-economic development in the region.
The visit was attended by senior military officers from both formations, including the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 OPHK, Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu; Deputy Force Commander MNJTF, Brigadier General Ndjonkep Frederic; Chief of Staff to the Theatre Commander, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed; component commanders, field commanders, and other principal staff officers.
Highlights of the visit included the inspection of a quarter guard, operational briefings, an interactive session, exchange of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ register, and a group photograph.
