The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has visited two officers of the Agency currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja, following injuries sustained during an anti-drug operation in the Federal Capital Territory.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi.
The injured officers, Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim, were attacked by a violent mob while carrying out a raid on a notorious drug joint in the Dawaki area of Abuja on Friday, May 15, 2026.
During the hospital visit on Monday, Marwa sympathised with the officers and assured them of the full support of the NDLEA leadership. He pledged that the Agency would take complete responsibility for their welfare and ensure they receive the best medical care until they fully recover.
“The Agency will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this cowardly attack are arrested and brought to justice. An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished,” Marwa stated.
The NDLEA boss commended the officers for their courage, professionalism, and dedication to duty during the high-risk operation, noting that their sacrifices remain critical to the ongoing fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in the country.
As part of efforts to boost their morale and recognise their bravery, Marwa presented the injured officers with official Letters of Commendation personally signed by him, alongside other support packages aimed at aiding their recovery.
He also applauded the NDLEA medical personnel and doctors at the National Hospital for their prompt intervention and quality medical attention that helped stabilise the injured officers.
Marwa reaffirmed the Agency’s determination to intensify the fight against drug cartels and criminal networks across the country, stressing that the NDLEA would not be deterred by violent resistance from criminal elements.
