The President of the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI), Emmanuel Obi Okafor, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, patriotism, tolerance, and selfless service as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

In his Eid message to Nigerians and members of the association, Ambassador Okafor said the festival symbolises sacrifice, obedience, faith, compassion, and peaceful coexistence, stressing that the nation can only achieve greatness through collective commitment to unity and national progress.

He urged citizens to reflect on the lessons of Eid by prioritising love for one another, devotion to God, justice, reconciliation, and sacrifice for the common good.

“Nigeria can only attain its full greatness when we embrace unity over division, patriotism over selfishness and collective progress over narrow interests,” he stated.

The AANI President paid tribute to Nigerians for their resilience and perseverance despite prevailing security and socio-economic challenges, describing the people’s faith in the country as a major source of national strength and hope.

He also commended members of Alumni Association of the National Institute for their contributions to national development, strategic leadership, peace-building, public service, and good governance across various sectors.

According to him, AANI members have continued to uphold the values of patriotism, integrity, and statesmanship, reinforcing the association’s role as a reservoir of visionary leadership and national capacity.

Ambassador Okafor further praised the Armed Forces of Nigeria, as well as security and intelligence agencies, for their sacrifices and professionalism in safeguarding the nation.

He, however, urged security personnel to intensify efforts towards securing all parts of the country and ensuring the safe return of citizens held in captivity.

The AANI President also charged political leaders to move away from divisive rhetoric and excessive politicking, urging them to focus on governance, national interest, and improving the welfare of Nigerians.

“At this critical juncture in our national journey, leadership and political engagement must be anchored in solutions, responsible governance and the urgent need to improve the living conditions of our people,” he said.

He called on Nigerians, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation, to recommit themselves to mutual respect, brotherhood, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.

Ambassador Okafor prayed that the blessings of Eid-el-Kabir would bring peace, prosperity, wisdom for leaders, and renewed strength for security agencies across the country.
