The Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has reassured the family of late Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah of the Federal Government’s continued support and commitment to the welfare of families of fallen military personnel.

The minister gave the assurance while receiving Mr. Hassan Braimah, brother of the late senior officer, at the Ministry of Defence in Abuja.

Brigadier General Braimah, a distinguished Infantry officer of the Nigerian Army, died in the line of duty at Benisheikh on April 9, 2026. Until his death, he served as Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade.

He was laid to rest with full military honours at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri on April 15, 2026, alongside seven other military personnel who also lost their lives in active service.

During the visit, Hassan Braimah reflected on the life and service of his late brother, describing him as a committed officer who dedicated his life to the defence of the nation.

He expressed pride in the sacrifice made by the late general and pledged the family’s continued support for those he left behind.

Responding, General Musa conveyed the condolences of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the bereaved family.

He stressed that the ministry operates an open-door policy and remains committed to providing assistance, care and access to families of fallen heroes.

“The Armed Forces will never abandon the families of those who lay down their lives for this country,” the minister stated.

“We remain committed to providing assistance, care, and direct access to the Ministry whenever needed.”

The visit highlighted the nation’s appreciation for the sacrifices of military personnel and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to preserving their legacy through sustained support for their families.
