The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, disclosed this during a press briefing highlighting recent security achievements of the command.

According to the police, operatives on May 10, 2026 rescued four kidnapped victims, including the Chief Medical Director of Crown Hospital, Nkpor, after a gun battle with kidnappers at Obosi. Police confirmed that one suspected commander of a proscribed secessionist group, identified as Nnamdi Nkemdilim Ogbonna, is in custody.

In another operation, operatives arrested Favour Izunna, alias “Njoku,” alleged to be a member of the Vikings Confraternity. Police said the suspect confessed to participating in several killings in Obosi and surrounding communities.

The command further disclosed that five suspects had been remanded over alleged sexual offences and child abuse cases in Awka, including a father accused of abusing his biological daughter.

Additionally, police arrested a female suspect, Chinazo Winners Anyasirikwu, over alleged child trafficking activities in Aguata Local Government Area, leading to the rescue of 12 children believed to be victims of trafficking.
