The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI has carried out a successful night air interdiction on a terrorist enclave in the Bulabulin general area of Borno State, killing scores of insurgents, including two senior Boko Haram commanders.
Security sources disclosed that the precision airstrike was conducted in the early hours of Monday after credible intelligence revealed the movement and concentration of terrorists within the area.
According to the sources, the operation targeted key terrorist locations and logistics assets concealed within the enclave.
A military source said several terrorist vehicles and structures were destroyed during the bombardment, while many insurgents were neutralised in the coordinated strike.
“The air interdiction was successful. Battle damage assessment and intelligence monitoring confirmed that several terrorists were eliminated during the strike,” the source said.
The source further disclosed that two top Boko Haram commanders operating around the Bulabulin axis were among those killed in the operation.
“They have been identified as Karma Wakil, who was the commander in charge of the Bulabulin general area, and his second-in-command, Wali Matari,” the source added.
According to the military source, the operation forms part of ongoing offensive efforts by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI aimed at degrading terrorist leadership, dismantling logistics networks, and denying insurgents freedom of action across the North-East theatre.
The source noted that post-strike surveillance and intelligence monitoring were still ongoing to determine the full extent of the damage inflicted on the terrorists and assess possible secondary impacts on their operational capabilities.
