The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has sustained its high-tempo air operations against terrorist elements, successfully destroying identified hideouts in the Southern Tumbuns area of Borno State.
According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the operation was carried out on April 24, 2026, at about 6:50 p.m. over Ali Sheriffti, a known terrorist enclave. The mission was executed by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI as part of ongoing efforts to neutralize insurgent activities in the region.
Ejodame disclosed that the airstrike followed credible intelligence reports indicating the presence and movement of terrorists within the area. NAF surveillance assets conducted a targeted sweep, during which several insurgents were observed navigating concealed routes. The individuals were tracked to structures hidden beneath dense vegetation, suggesting deliberate efforts to evade detection.
Upon confirming the targets, NAF aircraft carried out a precision strike, engaging the concealed structures with onboard munitions. The strike successfully destroyed the identified hideouts, significantly degrading the terrorists’ operational capacity and restricting their freedom of movement.
The Nigerian Air Force said the operation highlights its continued reliance on intelligence-driven and precision-based tactics aimed at eliminating terrorist safe havens across the theatre of operations.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the service’s commitment to intensifying air operations against insurgents. He emphasized that the NAF would continue to dismantle terrorist networks with sustained precision and force, ensuring that no enclave remains beyond reach.
The Air Force also assured Nigerians that operations would be escalated further to enhance security and protect lives and property across the country.
