Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intercepted a consignment of smuggled Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) during a night patrol in Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 8:10 p.m. on April 21 by troops of the 23 Brigade Special Battalion at Humbutudi village.
According to the sources, the troops recovered 23 jerrycans of PMS, each containing 25 litres, believed to be intended for terrorist elements operating in the North-East.
The smugglers reportedly fled the scene upon sighting the troops, abandoning the fuel.
The recovered items have been secured and are currently in military custody pending further action.
Sources added that the interception is part of ongoing efforts by troops to disrupt logistics and supply chains sustaining terrorist activities within the theatre of operations.
