Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have recorded multiple operational successes across Plateau State, including the arrest of a suspected terrorist, the foiling of a militia attack, and the recovery of 41 rustled cattle in coordinated operations.

Security sources said troops of Sector 9, working with a civilian drone team, arrested a suspected terrorist during an offensive operation conducted around 8:00 p.m. on April 26 in forest areas between Kwaki-For in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area and Fogoldep in Bokkos Local Government Area.

The troops engaged fleeing suspects after making contact, leading to the arrest of one individual. Items recovered include 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, an AK-47 magazine, a motorcycle, two mobile phones, and amulets. The suspect and exhibits are in military custody for further investigation.

In a separate operation the same day, troops of Sector 6 foiled a suspected militia attack in Jos South Local Government Area. Deployed personnel in Bukuru responded to intelligence on the movement of armed elements toward Gero high ground, reportedly heading for Sabon Gida community.

Troops engaged the suspects with controlled fire, forcing them to retreat and abandon the mission. During a follow-up operation, one civilian with gunshot wounds was found and evacuated for medical treatment, while the attackers reportedly fled with five motorcycles.

Meanwhile, troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with local vigilantes, recovered 41 rustled cattle during a fighting patrol along the Bangalala–Adua road in Wase Local Government Area at about 7:30 a.m. on April 27. The cattle were found abandoned after suspected rustlers fled on sighting advancing troops. The recovered livestock remain in military custody pending further action.

Security sources noted that patrols and surveillance have been intensified across the affected areas to prevent further attacks and criminal activities, as efforts continue to restore calm in the state.
