NAOWA President Reaffirms Commitment To NYSC During FCT Coordinator’s Visit

The President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Dr. Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu, has reaffirmed her commitment to youth development and national service while hosting the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Samson Ateli, at the NAOWA National Secretariat in Abuja.

The meeting, held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, underscored the importance of collaboration between both organisations in promoting national unity and empowering Nigerian youths.

Speaking during the courtesy visit, Dr. Shaibua highlighted the vital role of the NYSC scheme in fostering unity and shaping responsible citizens. She assured the delegation of NAOWA’s continued support, particularly in initiatives focused on improving the welfare, capacity building, and overall development of corps members across the country.

She also stressed the need for stronger partnerships, noting that strategic collaboration remains key to achieving sustainable youth empowerment and national development. The NAOWA President commended corps members for their service and reaffirmed the association’s dedication to programmes that positively impact their lives.

Earlier, the FCT NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Samson Ateli, congratulated Dr. Shaibu on her emergence as the 25th President of NAOWA, following the appointment of her husband, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, as Chief of Army Staff. He praised her leadership and acknowledged NAOWA’s consistent support for the NYSC, particularly in enhancing the welfare of corps members.

Mr. Ateli further expressed appreciation for the existing partnership between both organisations and appealed for its continuation to strengthen the scheme’s impact on Nigerian youths.

The visit concluded with both NAOWA and the NYSC reaffirming their commitment to deepening collaboration in advancing youth development and national integration initiatives.

Highlights of the visit included the signing of the visitors’ book, an interactive session, exchange of souvenirs, and group photographs.
