The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has reinforced its commitment to enhanced security through deeper collaboration with sister agencies, as the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, undertook strategic familiarization visits to key security formations in Abuja.
During visits to the Guards Brigade, led by Brigadier General A.O. Onasanya, and the Nigeria Customs Service, FCT Area Command, headed by Comptroller V.C. Aliboh, the Police Commissioner emphasized the critical importance of unified action in addressing evolving security challenges within the nation’s capital.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the engagements form part of a broader initiative aimed at strengthening inter-agency cooperation, improving operational synergy, and promoting seamless intelligence sharing among security stakeholders in the FCT.
CP Sanusi highlighted that modern security threats require coordinated responses, noting that no single agency can effectively tackle them in isolation. He commended the existing level of collaboration between the Police, the military, and paramilitary agencies, while calling for sustained efforts to deepen trust, mutual respect, and real-time intelligence exchange across all ranks.
The visits also provided a platform to explore avenues for joint operations and capacity building, with a focus on proactive measures to prevent crime and respond swiftly to security incidents across Abuja and its environs.
In their responses, both the Guards Brigade Commander and the Customs Controller reaffirmed their readiness to strengthen existing partnerships, pledging continued support for joint initiatives aimed at safeguarding lives and property in the Federal Capital Territory.
Security analysts note that such high-level engagements are crucial in building a cohesive security network, capable of responding effectively to emerging threats, including organized crime, smuggling, and other transnational activities.
The engagements concluded with symbolic exchanges of plaques and a renewed commitment by all parties to maintain a united front in ensuring a safer and more secure FCT. Residents were also encouraged to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing timely and credible information to authorities.
