Delta Police Intensify Rescue Efforts After Abduction Of Sapele LGA Chairman

The Delta State Police Command has stepped up efforts to secure the release of the abducted Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, following an on-the-spot operational assessment by the Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi.

In a press statement issued on April 11, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, said the CP’s visit to Sapele forms part of a coordinated response aimed at ensuring the victim’s safe and unharmed return.

During the visit, the police chief inspected key locations linked to the abduction, including Debro Fred Guest House, where the incident occurred, to gain first-hand insight into the circumstances surrounding the crime. He also visited Ogorode Waterside, where the vehicle allegedly used by the abductors was recovered, providing critical leads for ongoing intelligence and forensic investigations.

In a show of support, CP Oyeniyi met with the wife of the abducted chairman, offering assurances that the command is fully committed to securing his release. He also visited hospitals where victims injured during the attack are currently receiving treatment.

The Commissioner emphasised that the command, working in collaboration with other security agencies, has deployed adequate resources and is acting on credible intelligence to track down the perpetrators.

He urged residents of Sapele and the wider Delta State community to remain vigilant and support ongoing operations by providing timely and useful information, noting that public cooperation is crucial to the success of the rescue mission.

The Delta State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring that all necessary measures are being taken to bring those responsible for the abduction to justice.
