The Delta State Police Command has recorded major operational breakthroughs in a series of intelligence-led raids across the state, leading to the arrest of five suspects linked to cultism, kidnapping, armed robbery and drug trafficking.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Command said the coordinated operations led to the recovery of an English-made pistol, six rounds of live ammunition, suspected illicit drugs, dangerous weapons and cash.
In the first operation, conducted on April 4, 2026, operatives of the Raiders Unit raided a suspected criminal hideout in Ika South Local Government Area, Agbor, where they arrested a 34-year-old suspect identified as Henry Obi.
Police said the suspect, who allegedly confessed to being a member of the Aiye Confraternity, was found in possession of one English-made pistol loaded with six rounds of live ammunition.
A further search of the premises also led to the discovery of suspected illicit drugs concealed inside the body of a standing air conditioner, in what police described as a deliberate attempt to evade detection.
In a separate operation on April 5, 2026, operatives of the Buffalo Team, working alongside members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Achalla Branch, raided a criminal hideout at Hausa Market near the Customs checkpoint along the Benin–Asaba Expressway.
The raid resulted in the arrest of four suspects: Yakubu Umar, 19; Galiu Adamu, 17; Nuhu Musa, 16; and Zaraduwu Usman, 21.
Recovered during the operation were large quantities of suspected illicit drugs, including Colorado, Canadian Loud, substances suspected to be Indian hemp, Tramadol and Swinol. Police also recovered two locally fabricated battle axes and the sum of ₦144,000.
All the suspects and recovered exhibits are currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for what he described as swift and coordinated actions, stressing that such operations are vital to the command’s ongoing crackdown on criminal activities across the state.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible information to security agencies, assuring that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property.
