The Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force (JTF) North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has facilitated the deployment of additional combat equipment to frontline troops as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen operational effectiveness in the North-East theatre.
Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, facilitated this on March 20, 2026, when he visited troops stationed at Mallam Fatori in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State following the successful repulsion of an ISWAP attack on March 18.
He also ensured the replenishment of ordnance expended during recent operations, a move aimed at sustaining combat momentum and enhancing the troops’ capacity to confront insurgents effectively in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign.
The visit, which came shortly after the failed terrorist assault, formed part of efforts to assess the operational situation on ground and celebrate Eid-El-Fitr with personnel deployed in the frontline area.
Major General Abubakar, accompanied by senior officers and members of his entourage, carried out an on-the-spot inspection of defensive positions, including key approaches to the camp, Forward Operating Base (FOB) Kangarr, and D Company deployments at Bosso.
Addressing the troops, the Theatre Commander conveyed the goodwill and felicitations of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Army Staff, while commending the personnel for what he described as their “outstanding gallantry, resilience, and dedication” during the recent encounter with insurgents.
He praised the troops for their courage and professionalism in repelling the ISWAP attack, noting that their steadfastness had once again demonstrated the resolve of Operation HADIN KAI forces to deny terrorists freedom of action in the North-East theatre.
The Theatre Commander emphasised the need for sustained vigilance, high operational readiness, and strong morale among personnel operating within the Joint Operations Area, urging the troops to remain focused and committed to the mission.
Troops at the location expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a major morale booster that reinforced their determination to continue defending lives and property against insurgent threats.
The visit underscored the commitment of the military high command to frontline welfare, operational effectiveness, and the ongoing fight against terrorism in the North-East.
