Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a suspected notorious terrorists commander of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), Sabastine Odo Odam, in connection with a series of deadly attacks in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The DSS also apprehended Ejike Daniel, a suspected member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), during an intelligence-led operation conducted on Friday, March 6, in the communities of Eha-Amufu and Umuhu.
Sources disclosed that the arrests followed months of surveillance and intelligence gathering on the suspects over their alleged roles in coordinated attacks on police facilities and the theft of firearms later used in further assaults.
According to the sources, the suspects have confessed during interrogation to masterminding several violent attacks in the area. Investigators say Sabastine Odo Odam admitted orchestrating the February 26 killing of 11 labourers in Isi-Uzo, an incident that shocked residents and heightened security concerns in the locality.
He was also said to have confessed to coordinating the murder of five police officers in separate attacks carried out between December 24, 2025, and January 26, 2026, as part of a campaign of violence targeting security personnel in the area.
The DSS reportedly recovered critical intelligence from the suspects, which investigators believe will aid ongoing operations aimed at dismantling armed networks responsible for the attacks.
Residents of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area have welcomed the arrests, expressing hope that the breakthrough will help restore peace to communities that have suffered repeated violence.
Both suspects are currently in DSS custody and are expected to be arraigned in court after the conclusion of investigations.
