The Federal Government of Nigeria has congratulated the Republic of Tunisia on the occasion of its Independence Anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between both countries.
In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, extended warm congratulations to his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Ali Nafti, on the historic milestone marking Tunisia’s independence in 1956.
The statement, signed by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, described the anniversary as a significant moment that reflects Tunisia’s enduring commitment to sovereignty, national development, and democratic progress.
According to the Ministry, Nigeria joined in celebrating the resilience and achievements of the Tunisian people, while acknowledging the importance of the occasion in the history of the North African nation.
The Federal Government noted that Nigeria and Tunisia have maintained cordial and mutually beneficial diplomatic relations over the years, built on shared values of mutual respect, African solidarity, and constructive engagement.
It added that both countries have continued to work together in bilateral and multilateral platforms, especially within the African Union and the United Nations, to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development across Africa.
Nigeria also commended Tunisia’s contributions to regional stability, economic development, and institutional strengthening in North Africa, while highlighting ongoing engagements aimed at deepening cooperation in trade, investment, education, tourism, and cultural exchange.
The Ministry emphasized that the complementarities between both nations present strong opportunities for enhanced economic collaboration and stronger people-to-people relations.
“On this auspicious occasion, Nigeria reaffirms its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Tunisia through sustained diplomatic dialogue and expanded cooperation across sectors of mutual interest,” the statement said.
The Federal Government further conveyed its best wishes to the Government and people of Tunisia for continued peace, progress, and prosperity.
