The newly appointed Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Tincan Strategic Command, Commander Solomon Gbadebo Omotosho, has paid a strategic visit to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Area Command, Lagos, as part of efforts to strengthen inter-agency collaboration in the fight against drug trafficking.
The visit was aimed at fostering a stronger working relationship between both agencies and reinforcing operational synergy in tackling narcotics trafficking within the maritime corridor.
Receiving the NDLEA delegation, the Acting Customs Area Controller of the KLT Area Command, Deputy Comptroller Bolaji Lukman Adigun, described the engagement as timely and significant, noting that the port environment remains a critical frontline in preventing the movement of illicit drugs.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to robust enforcement measures while ensuring the seamless facilitation of legitimate trade.
Deputy Comptroller Adigun further stressed the importance of sustained intelligence sharing, coordinated cargo profiling, and joint examination procedures as vital strategies for improving operational effectiveness and curbing the activities of drug trafficking syndicates.
In his remarks, Commander Solomon Gbadebo Omotosho said the visit was necessary to establish a strong working relationship with the KLT Command and to strengthen operational cooperation in combating narcotics trafficking.
He emphasized the need for seamless communication, proactive intelligence exchange, and coordinated enforcement actions to deliver measurable results in the ongoing fight against illicit drug networks.
According to him, the NDLEA remains committed to working closely with the Nigeria Customs Service to dismantle drug trafficking syndicates and enhance national security.
