Umuahia — The Abia State Police Command on Monday commenced activities for the 2026 National Police Day celebration with an environmental sanitation exercise and medical outreach held across key locations in Umuahia and Aba.
The Day One programme formed part of the week-long activities lined up to commemorate the annual event.
According to the command, officers carried out sanitation exercises at Orie-Ugba Market, Umuahia, and Cemetery Market, Aba, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police on proactive policing and stronger partnership with members of the public.
As part of the exercise, the ACP Medical, ACP Emelike Chinenye, sensitised traders and residents on essential health tips, while the programme also featured physical fitness activities and free medical screening, including blood pressure checks.
The medical outreach was further extended beyond the markets to the School of the Blind, Afara, and the Motherless Babies Home along Ngwa Road, Aba, where beneficiaries also received attention.
The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, urged members of the public to participate in the remaining activities lined up for the National Police Day celebration.
He disclosed that a walkathon is scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Okpara Square, Umuahia, and the Area Command, Aba, beginning from 8:00 a.m.
The activities underscore the Abia State Police Command’s commitment to community engagement, public health, and people-oriented policing, while also strengthening trust and cooperation between the police and the public.
