The Integrity Youth Alliance (IYA) has described as fake, malicious, and poorly scripted a publication by Sahara Reporters titled, “EXCLUSIVE: Egbetokun’s Associate Shina Philips Accused Of Pocketing Police Conference Funds, Sharing Loot With Ex-IGP, Former PRO Adejobi.”
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Kelvin Adegbenga, the Alliance said the allegations against Mr. Shina Philips, Managing Director/CEO of Lenders Consult International, were a calculated attempt to mislead the public and tarnish reputations.
According to the group, Philips has played a central role in organising Senior Police Conferences strictly in a professional consultancy capacity. It clarified that funds for the conferences are sourced independently through his firm, Lenders Consult International, and not from the coffers of the Nigeria Police Force.
“Shina Philips is a consultant to the Nigeria Police Force. He designed the proposal for the Senior Police Conference and has been executing the conference since 2019, beginning during the tenure of former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu. His involvement has always been professional, transparent, and consultancy-based,” the statement read.
The Alliance dismissed as false the claim that Philips, under the cover of former Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, solicited sponsorship from governors for police conferences. It maintained that any fundraising efforts were undertaken strictly by Lenders Consult International as a corporate entity and not on behalf of any Inspector-General.
It further emphasized that all funds raised by the company were solely utilized for the successful hosting of Senior Police Conferences, adding that there is no evidence of misappropriation.
The group also refuted allegations that funds were shared between Egbetokun and the then Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, without the knowledge of other senior officers.
“Such allegations are from the pit of hell and clearly authored by a bitter soul bent on blackmail and character assassination. There is absolutely no truth to the claim that any dime was secretly shared,” the statement added.
The Alliance challenged Sahara Reporters to provide concrete evidence to support its claims, particularly regarding the alleged tampering of funds intended for distribution to senior officers during state-level police conferences.
“It is unfortunate that Sahara Reporters continues to rely on faceless and questionable sources who must be smiling to the bank as they get paid heavily for peddling unverified stories,” the group stated.
The IYA also clarified that Philips’ personal relationship with the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, enabled him to secure hosting rights for another police conference scheduled to hold in Imo State in April 2026. It stressed that this arrangement was made without the influence of Egbetokun.
On claims that Philips accompanied Egbetokun on official international trips and received allowances, the Alliance described the allegation as false, stating that Philips facilitated several international engagements and, in some cases, personally financed aspects of the trips.
Reaffirming its position, the Integrity Youth Alliance said Philips remains open to any credible investigation, insisting that the organisation of police conferences from 2019 to date has been transparent and professionally managed.
The group urged Sahara Reporters to verify information thoroughly before publication and to refrain from attributing serious allegations to anonymous sources in pursuit of sensational headlines.
