The Director General of Nigerian Army Finance Incorporation (NAFIC), Major General Julius Osifo, has urged troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) to take full advantage of existing Nigerian Army welfare and financial schemes aimed at improving their well-being and operational effectiveness.
Osifo made the call during a sensitisation visit to troops at the Headquarters Theatre Command, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, at Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maiduguri, on Monday, March 23, 2026
According to a press statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the NAFIC boss said the agency manages key welfare initiatives such as the Nigerian Army Benevolent Fund, Group Life Assurance Scheme, and other support packages for personnel affected by injury, permanent disability, or death in service.
He explained that the sensitisation programme focused on major welfare and financial support initiatives, including the Nigerian Army Personnel Loan Scheme, the Chief of Army Staff Personnel Loan Programme, activities of the Directorate of Non-Public Funds (DNPF), and the establishment of the Nigerian Army Microfinance Bank (NAMFB).
Osifo said the initiative was designed to educate troops on their entitlements, responsibilities, and the benefits available to them, stressing that improved awareness would further strengthen morale and fighting spirit, thereby enhancing operational effectiveness.
The DG also commended the Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force North East OPHK, Major General Abdusalam Abubakar, for his leadership and operational successes in the theatre.
He noted that sustained offensive operations by troops had significantly degraded terrorist capabilities, despite a few isolated setbacks, and had helped restore public confidence in the Armed Forces.
In his remarks, the Theatre Commander described the visit as timely, noting that it came at a critical phase of ongoing dry season operations.
Maj Gen Abubakar disclosed that troops had continued to record successes in the theatre, neutralising about 300 terrorists through well-coordinated operations and superior firepower.
He added that increased awareness of welfare packages had contributed significantly to boosting troop morale, as personnel remained reassured of adequate support in times of need.
Abubakar further said the welfare scheme aligns with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W. Shaibu’s “Soldier First Culture” concept, which prioritises the welfare and administrative well-being of Nigerian Army personnel.
The visit, according to the statement, underscores NAFIC’s commitment to promoting professionalism, strengthening troops’ welfare awareness, and supporting sustained operational success in the fight against insurgency in the North East.
