The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has visited victims of the recent IED explosions currently receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), as part of an urgent security and humanitarian response to the attacks in Maiduguri.

During the visit, the IGP also proceeded to the Maiduguri Monday Market bombing site for an on-the-spot assessment of the scene, as authorities intensify efforts to track down those behind the tragic incident.

As part of his engagements in Borno State, the Police chief further visited the Borno State Government House and the State Police Command Headquarters to review ongoing security measures and strengthen coordinated operational responses.

IGP Disu commiserated with the victims and families affected by the explosions, describing the incident as tragic and unacceptable. He reassured residents of the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering resolve to dismantle all networks linked to the attacks and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

He further emphasized that security has now been significantly tightened across Maiduguri and surrounding areas, with enhanced deployments, increased surveillance, and robust joint operational measures put in place to prevent any recurrence and guarantee public safety.

The visit comes amid heightened security concerns following the recent explosions that have once again underscored the persistent threat posed by terrorist elements in the North East.
