Several soldiers and police personnel have reportedly been killed following a deadly ambush by armed gunmen in Giro Masa community, Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The attack is said to have occurred on Tuesday night, when the assailants reportedly launched a surprise assault on security operatives in the area, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire
Governor Nasir Idris confirmed the incident after visiting victims at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Birnin Kebbi.
According to local sources, two residents of the community were also killed during the attack, while the exact number of casualties among the military and police is yet to be officially confirmed.
