The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), Major General Folusho Oyinlola, has conducted an operational assessment visit to Headquarters 33 Artillery Brigade in Shadawanka Barracks, Bauchi State, as part of efforts to strengthen operational effectiveness and security across the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
The visit, which took place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, was disclosed in a press statement by the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 33 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Oluwakemi Esther Fagbolagun.
During the visit, the Commander 33 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General UG Simon, received and briefed the GOC and his entourage at the Brigade Operations Room on ongoing operational activities and achievements in Mansur and Bagobiri communities of Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
He assured that troops under his command remain combat-ready for ongoing and future operations aimed at tackling security threats within the Brigade’s area of responsibility.
Brigadier General Simon reaffirmed the troops’ unwavering commitment to sustaining aggressive and intelligence-driven operations to deny terrorists freedom of action and restore lasting peace in the region. He highlighted sustained offensive operations, intelligence-led patrols and improved inter-unit coordination, as well as seamless collaboration with Sector 2 OPEP to disrupt terrorist networks.
In his remarks, Major General Oyinlola stressed the need for continuous deployment of troops across Forward Operating Bases to dominate the operational environment and prevent terrorists from regrouping or operating freely. He emphasized that enhanced synergy among units and sister security agencies remains critical to consolidating operational gains.
The GOC noted that the directives align with the Command Philosophy and strategic guidance of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W. Shaibu, whose vision prioritizes professionalism, operational efficiency and troop welfare as essential pillars for mission success.
As part of the operational tour, the GOC, accompanied by the Air Officer Commanding, Nigerian Air Force Special Operations Command represented by the Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal SS Lazarus; the Commander 251 Base Service Group, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Y. Bashir; and the 33 Brigade Commander, also visited the Headquarters Nigerian Army Armoured Corps.
The team held operational discussions with the Commander Armoured Corps, Major General UB Abubakar, aimed at strengthening inter-corps coordination and enhancing overall combat readiness.
The visit underscored the Division’s resilience, operational readiness and strategic deployment of troops across critical locations, reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, protecting law-abiding citizens and defending Nigeria’s sovereignty.
