The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the Government and people of Morocco following devastating floods that have impacted the northern regions of the country.

In a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria said it was saddened by the loss of lives, displacement of families, and widespread destruction of homes, farmlands, public utilities, and critical infrastructure caused by the floods.

The statement, signed by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, noted that Nigeria stands firmly with Morocco during what it described as an exceptionally difficult period, acknowledging the emotional toll on affected communities as well as the national burden of emergency response, rehabilitation, and long-term reconstruction.

Nigeria also commended the Moroccan authorities, emergency services, and humanitarian actors for their swift and coordinated response, including search-and-rescue operations, provision of emergency shelter, medical care, and relief supplies. According to the statement, these actions reflect Morocco’s strong institutional capacity and commitment to protecting its citizens.

The Federal Government expressed confidence that with sustained national efforts and international cooperation, the affected regions would recover and rebuild, while strengthening systems to mitigate future climate-related disasters.

Nigeria extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and conveyed its thoughts and prayers to His Majesty the King, the Government, and the people of Morocco, expressing hope for the safety of affected communities, the speedy restoration of normalcy, and the successful rebuilding of lives and livelihoods.
