Naval Base Abuja has conducted a manpower development training for Gender Focal Point Officers and Gender Advisers, reaffirming the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to professionalism, inclusivity, and operational effectiveness.

The training, held recently in Abuja, brought together personnel drawn from various units within the Base’s Area of Responsibility. It was designed to strengthen participants’ understanding of gender mainstreaming, advisory roles, and institutional responsibilities in line with global best practices.

Speaking during the programme, facilitators emphasized the importance of integrating gender perspectives into planning and operations, noting that effective gender advisory structures enhance cohesion, discipline, and mission success. Participants were also exposed to practical sessions aimed at improving reporting, policy implementation, and coordination at unit levels.

The Command noted that the training aligns with the Nigerian Navy’s broader manpower development objectives and its commitment to fostering a professional and inclusive service environment. Participants expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as timely and relevant to contemporary security and operational demands.

Naval Base Abuja reaffirmed its resolve to continue capacity-building programmes that promote excellence, accountability, and effectiveness across all levels of the Service.
