The Commandant Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), Major General Adewale Collins Adetoba has charged students of Junior Leadership and Staff Officers Course (JLSOC) 5 of 2026 to embrace the course with enthusiasm, courage and an open mind.
He said this would prepare them to face the academic rigors associated with the course. He gave the charge during the inauguration ceremony of the JLSOC 5 of 2026 on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, at the Tukur Yusuf Buratai Hall, NACOLM, Main Campus Ojo, Lagos.
According to Major Innocent Oche Audu, Public Relations Officer Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management, Major General Adetoba, while addressing the students, said the course will improve their professionalism and equip them with the requisite skills to better contribute to the growth and development of the Nigerian Army (NA).
He also disclosed that NACOLM's initial mandate at inception in 2002, was to train Logisticians for the NA adding that, the Logistics Staff Course (LSC) and Logistics Management Course (LMC) were conducted by the college to actualize the mandate.
He further disclosed that the College mandate was expanded by the NA to train Direct Regular Commissioned Officers on leadership and staff duties in order to further enhance their capacity. This led to the introduction of 2 additional courses; Senior Leadership and Staff Officers Course (SLSOC) and Junior Leadership and Staff Officers Course (JLSOC) in 2022.
The Commandant urged the students to work in harmony and create rooms for intellectual dialogue among themselves. He admonished them of the risk of plagiarism and encouraged them to work hard and be original in their submissions to avoid academic fraud.
Major General Adetoba while delivering his inaugural lecture titled “Ethical Leadership in Military Logistics: Enhancing Operational Support in Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous Environment” also noted that, Military Logistics plays a vital role in driving operational success adding that, Ethic Leaders with the necessary skills are needed in today’s constantly evolving operational environment.
He further alluded that logistics and its effective deployment is very crucial to operational success in military operations. He encouraged the students to who would be future military commanders at various levels to imbibe ethical leadership principles and effective use of resources.
This, he added, would help overcome some of the challenges in today’s volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous operational environment.
The Chairman, JLSOC 5 of 2026 Inauguration Committee, Colonel Ifeanyi Uyanu, while delivering the vote of thanks, appreciated God for the hitch free ceremony.
He also thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for his strategic leadership and continuous support to the College. He also thanked the Commandant for a well-researched, packaged, and soundly delivered inaugural lecture.
He further acknowledged his effort to ensure the success of the College. The event was attended by members of sister service, professional bodies, and partners of the College.
