The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Male Volleyball Spikers Team has emerged champions of the 2025 National Volleyball Super Cup Tournament, defeating the Customs Service team in a thrilling final at the Moshood Abiola Indoor Stadium on Saturday, 7 February 2026.

According to Captain (NN) Abidemi Folorunsho, the acting Director of Information, the Super Cup Tournament, organised at the end of the regular volleyball league season, is designed to identify the best club team in the country while promoting excellence, competitiveness, and the overall development of volleyball in Nigeria.
The competition also serves as a platform for assessing outstanding players for future national team selection.

The CNS Male Volleyball Spikers’ victory further reinforces their dominance in Nigerian volleyball, coming on the heels of their consecutive triumphs in the 2024 and 2025 National Volleyball Premier League seasons. Their success in the 2025 Premier League earned them qualification as one of the six elite teams that contested the Super Cup, held from 31 January to 8 February 2026 at the Moshood Abiola Indoor Stadium.
In addition to the men’s success, the CNS Female Volleyball Spikers Team also recorded an impressive outing, clinching the bronze medal after finishing third behind the Chief of Army Staff female volleyball team.

Reacting to the achievement, the Chief of the Naval Staff congratulated the teams for their outstanding performances, noting that the successful defence of their league title for the second consecutive year and the Super Cup victory in quick succession underscore their resilience and winning mentality. He described the accomplishment as a reflection of sustained excellence built on discipline, sound preparation, and strong team spirit.

The CNS further commended the teams for consistently representing the Nigerian Navy with distinction and setting high standards for professionalism, competitiveness, and sportsmanship both on and off the court. While celebrating the back-to-back league titles and Super Cup victory, he urged the players not to rest on their laurels, reminding them that success comes with higher expectations and greater responsibility.

He reaffirmed his commitment to continued support for the volleyball teams, particularly in the areas of player development and coaching excellence, adding that sports remain a vital tool for keeping Nigerian Navy personnel physically fit and highly motivated in the discharge of their duties to safeguard Nigeria’s maritime interests.
The victory once again highlights the importance placed on sports development by the Chief of the Naval Staff as part of efforts to promote discipline, teamwork, and operational readiness within the Nigerian Navy.
