The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned a Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Special Intervention Project (CAS SIP) in Adobu Community, Patani Local Government Area of Delta State, as part of its ongoing commitment to grassroots development and strengthened civil-military relations.
The intervention, approved by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, and executed by retired Air Vice Marshal Ebimbowei Dennis Yinkere, involved the renovation and remodelling of the Adobu Community Town Hall, alongside a free medical outreach for residents. The initiative forms part of a nationwide programme encouraging senior NAF officers to give back to their communities while promoting trust, cooperation, and goodwill between the military and the civil populace.
Speaking through the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the CAS described the project as a key pillar of the NAF’s Civil-Military Relations strategy. He noted that sustainable security is best achieved when operational effectiveness is complemented by genuine concern for the welfare of the people. The CAS also urged community members to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence, assuring them of the NAF’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property nationwide.
The upgraded town hall now offers improved aesthetics and functionality, providing a central venue for meetings, cultural activities, civic engagements, and community decision-making. The facility is expected to strengthen community administration, promote social cohesion, and enhance inclusive dialogue among stakeholders. In addition, the free medical outreach improved access to essential healthcare services, enabling early diagnosis of illnesses, addressing urgent medical needs, and easing the financial burden on families.
In his remarks, AVM Ebimbowei Dennis Yinkere (Rtd) expressed gratitude to the CAS for the opportunity to execute the project, describing it as a reflection of the enduring bond between the NAF and the Nigerian people. He added that the initiative demonstrated the positive outcomes of effective collaboration between government, the military, and local communities, and would promote unity, comfort, and civic engagement in Adobu.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by a representative of the Executive Governor of Delta State, retired senior military officers, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders, underscoring broad support for the NAF’s people-centred approach to security and national development.
