The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two suspected kidnappers in Kaduna State following a sting operation coordinated with victims who had earlier been held in captivity.
According to reports, the suspects allegedly abducted two married women and subjected them to abuse while in custody. After the women were released, investigators say the suspects continued to maintain contact with them.
Acting on the advice of law enforcement officers, the women reportedly agreed to a meeting arranged by the suspects. When the suspects arrived at the agreed location on Tuesday, police officers who had been placed on standby moved in and effected their arrest.
The police confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. Authorities commended the victims for their cooperation and urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious communications or movements to security agencies.
Nasarawa Daily News reported that further details will be made available as the investigation progresses.
