The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Bemgba Paul Koughna, has conducted an assessment visit to Tidibale Community in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State, as part of his first official engagements.

Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba explained in a press statement that during the visit, the GOC reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents, particularly following the recent return of community members who had earlier been displaced by threats from bandits.

Addressing residents, Major General Koughna explained that the visit was aimed at assessing the security situation on ground and reassuring the community of sustained military presence. He emphasized that troops have been deployed and are now permanently stationed in Tidibale to maintain a robust security posture, remain vigilant, and respond swiftly to any emerging threats.

The GOC assured the community that the Nigerian Army would not allow any part of Tidibale to fall under the control of criminal elements, adding that the improved security environment would enable residents to resume normal activities, especially farming, without fear.

He further urged community members to remain alert and cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious movements or activities, stressing that effective civil–military collaboration is critical to achieving lasting peace and stability.

Speaking on behalf of the community, the Sarkin Arewa of Tidibale, Alhaji Ibrahim, expressed profound appreciation to the GOC for the timely visit. He noted that the engagement had renewed the confidence and hope of residents amid prevailing security challenges. According to him, the community remains confident in the Nigerian Army’s resolve to restore and sustain peace in the area.

Earlier, upon arrival at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Isa, the GOC received a comprehensive operational briefing from the Commanding Officer, 26 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Nasiru Mustapha. The briefing provided critical insights into the current security situation and ongoing operations within the area of responsibility.

The Nigerian Army reiterates its commitment to protecting lives and property while working closely with local communities to ensure enduring peace and security across the Northwest region.
