The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Area Command Nnewi, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community policing and deepening collaboration with local authorities during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government, Hon. Echezona Anazodo.
The delegation, led by the Area Command Chairman, Hon. Amobi Okonkwo (Anunuebe/Okwuekwuluṅụọiyi Anaedo), was received at the Nnewi North Local Government Secretariat, where discussions centred on enhancing security coordination and improving the operational capacity of law enforcement agencies in the area.
Hon. Okonkwo briefed the Chairman on the Committee’s ongoing support to the police, highlighting their role in crime prevention and community engagement. He commended Hon. Anazodo for his visible contributions to strengthening security infrastructure, particularly his recent procurement of a modern fire service vehicle and the recruitment of trained firefighting personnel — efforts aimed at boosting emergency response within the local government.
Appealing for further logistical support, the PCRC Chairman requested the provision of a patrol vehicle for the Area Command, recalling the loss of their operational vehicle during the EndSARS unrest. He also announced the Committee’s readiness to assist with traffic control during the busy Christmas season to ensure free flow of movement across major routes.
On her part, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Ubah, Women Coordinator of the Committee, praised the Chairman’s leadership and urged him to sustain his development efforts for the benefit of Ndi Nnewi. She reiterated the group’s willingness to work closely with the local government to maintain peace and order.
Responding, Hon. Anazodo expressed appreciation for the visit, describing the PCRC as a vital partner in community security. He revealed ongoing efforts by his administration to provide a patrol vehicle for the Area Command and emphasized the importance of unity among all stakeholders in safeguarding the community.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of PCRC-branded materials to the Chairman, formally conferring on him the role of PCRC Ambassador — a gesture symbolizing strengthened ties and mutual commitment to community safety.
The engagement marks another step toward consolidating participatory governance and enhancing the security architecture of Nnewi North.
