The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, on Monday, December 22, 2025, received the President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Mernan Femi Oluyede, alongside a distinguished delegation comprising presidents of other officers’ wives associations, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The meeting provided an opportunity for discussions on strengthening welfare and humanitarian support within Nigeria’s security institutions. Mrs. Oluyede reaffirmed DEPOWA’s commitment to promoting unity, resilience, and compassion across the security community through sustained welfare initiatives and outreach programmes.
She noted that DEPOWA remains dedicated to supporting officers and their families, particularly through interventions aimed at enhancing morale and fostering a strong sense of solidarity among personnel of the nation’s security agencies.
The IGP commended DEPOWA and allied associations for their continued contributions to the wellbeing of officers’ families, describing their efforts as vital to sustaining professionalism and dedication within the security services. He emphasized that collaborative welfare initiatives play a crucial role in building a cohesive and motivated security architecture for the country.
