President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army to ensure the protection and safety of Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo of Plateau State, following widespread concerns over his wellbeing.
The directive comes after a viral video surfaced on social media in which Rev. Dachomo decried alleged targeted killings of Christian faithful in parts of Plateau State. The video, which sparked nationwide reactions, was shortly followed by a reports claiming the cleric had been abducted.
Presidency sources confirmed that President Tinubu, upon receiving intelligence on the situation, immediately instructed the GOC 3rd Division to take all necessary measures to locate, secure, and guarantee the safety of the clergyman and his family.
Security operatives have since been mobilised to the area to forestall any threat to Rev. Dachomo’s life and maintain peace in affected communities.
The President also urged citizens to desist from spreading unverified information capable of heightening tension, assuring that his administration remains committed to the protection of all Nigerians regardless of religion, ethnicity, or region.
Meanwhile, the Plateau State Police Command has appealed for calm, confirming that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the facts surrounding the alleged incident.
