The Nigeria Police Force has stepped up air surveillance operations across Anambra State ahead of the November 8 Governorship Election, in a bid to bolster security and ensure a peaceful and credible exercise.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the command noted that the aerial patrols are part of a broader operational strategy designed to guarantee the safety of voters, officials, and materials during the polls.
According to SP Ikenga, the intensified air surveillance is being carried out in synergy with ground troops, marine operatives, and tactical teams strategically deployed across the state. The coordinated effort aims to monitor movement patterns, identify suspicious activities, and provide real-time intelligence to support swift response by ground commanders.
“The Force remains neutral, professional, and committed to protecting all citizens, electoral officials, observers, and materials throughout the election period,” the statement read.
The Police Command further urged residents to remain law-abiding and to cooperate with security personnel performing their legitimate duties, assuring that every measure has been taken to safeguard lives, property, and the integrity of the electoral process.
The statement concluded with a reassurance that the Nigeria Police Force will continue to uphold the rule of law and ensure that all eligible voters exercise their franchise without fear, intimidation, or disruption.
