In a renewed push to enhance peace, safety, and community collaboration across Anambra State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, on Saturday received a high-powered delegation from the Aguleri Community at the State Police Command Headquarters in Awka.
During the meeting, CP Orutugu applauded the Aguleri community for its proactive role in peacebuilding and its steadfast support for security efforts in the state. According to the Command’s Spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner stressed that sustainable security can only be achieved through strong, consistent partnerships between the Police and local communities.
Leading the delegation, His Majesty, Eze (Dr) Chukwuemeka Eri, Akaji Ovor Igbo, Ezeora 34th, and current occupant of the Obu Gad, Enugwu Aguleri, expressed gratitude for the Commissioner’s leadership. He reaffirmed the community’s commitment to deepening collaboration in intelligence sharing, conflict prevention, and youth sensitization on peaceful conduct.
Ikenga further noted that the visit forms part of ongoing community-policing engagements designed to foster mutual understanding, rebuild public trust, and strengthen cooperation between residents and law enforcement agencies.
Both parties discussed strategic approaches to improving security in the region, including enhanced communication channels, community engagement initiatives, and joint crime-prevention programmes. The meeting ended with a shared resolve to sustain peace and further reinforce security efforts across Anambra State.
