The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS) has recorded another major breakthrough in the fight against crime and insecurity, arresting 20 suspects involved in terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery, vandalism, and fraud across several states.
Acting on the directive of the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, the operations were carried out between October and November 2025 across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, Benue, Plateau, and Ondo States.
According to a statement by the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, CSC Afolabi Babawale, Anipr, the successful arrests demonstrate the Corps’ determination to ensure that “there is no hiding place for criminal elements” anywhere in the country.
The Commander of the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad, Assistant Commandant Dandaura Jp, revealed that the 20 suspects were apprehended for crimes including kidnapping, armed robbery, murder, vandalism, and obtaining by false pretence. Two of the suspects were confirmed as terrorist/militia members linked to recent communal attacks, while five others were identified as major buyers of stolen items.
Additionally, two suspects were arrested for vandalizing critical public infrastructure belonging to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), while three others were arrested for fraudulent activities.
During the coordinated operations, the squad recovered several lethal weapons and stolen properties, including:
- Two (2) AK-47 rifles
- Two (2) G3 rifles (recovered in Ondo State)
- Sixty-five (65) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition
- One (1) Toyota Corolla LE 2010 model (snatched at gunpoint)
- Four (4) stolen motorcycles
- Various mobile phones, electronics, charms, and cash
In Benue, Plateau, and Nasarawa States, two suspects, Ibrahim Hudu (30) and Hassan Ibrahim (23), were arrested in Lafia for their involvement in kidnapping and murder. The duo confessed to killing two victims, Mr. Obasanjo H. Aku and Mr. Muhammadu Yaka, even after collecting ransom. Investigations further linked Hassan Ibrahim to militia attacks in Yelwata (Benue State) and Qua’an-Pan (Plateau State).
Recovered from the syndicate were:
- One (1) AK-47 rifle
- One (1) magazine
- Forty (40) rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition
- Charms
In another operation, the squad arrested notorious highway robbers and kidnappers operating in Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi, and Kaduna States. The suspects—Bamaiyi Mustapha (alias Dan Borno), John Ishaya (alias Baushe), and James Bako (alias Muchake)—confessed to multiple attempted kidnappings and armed robbery incidents along major highways, including the Abuja-Kaduna and Minna-Niger roads.
In Ondo State, the squad also apprehended Iseoluwa Shadrach Omosehin (27) and recovered two (2) G3 rifles with serial numbers 6911856 and 69047064.
Furthermore, two vandals, Nyitamen George (34) and Muhammad Aliyu (23), were arrested in Nasarawa State for tampering with power installations, illegal electricity connections, and assault.
The squad also dismantled a network of receivers who purchased stolen goods from kidnapping and robbery operations. The suspects include: Amin Omaku – bought a Toyota Corolla LE and three motorcycle, Emmanuel Sale – bought mobile phones and televisions, Victor Eze Friday – bought a Samsung Galaxy S10E, Sunday Thankgod – found with an iPhone 14 Pro, and Hassan Bawa – found with a stolen motorcycle
Commandant Dandaura emphasized that the arrests and recoveries underscore the Corps’ unwavering resolve to rid Nigeria of criminal elements. He assured that all suspects will be charged to court after investigations.
He urged citizens to continue providing actionable intelligence to the NSCDC and other security agencies, reaffirming the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives, property, and critical infrastructure in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
