Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled a dawn attack by Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on their location in Mallam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.
The fierce encounter, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, 4 November 2025, saw the gallant troops of 68 Battalion overpower a large number of heavily armed terrorists who attempted to overrun their base. Several terrorists were neutralised in the process, while a significant cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered.
Mallam Fatori, a strategic border town between Nigeria and Niger Republic, has recently witnessed the return of thousands of refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) following the restoration of peace and stability in the area.
The renewed security has also enabled the conduct of local primary elections for the first time in over a decade and allowed hundreds of farmers to resume agricultural activities for which the town is renowned.
Security sources told SpyeTV News that the failed attack was a desperate attempt by ISWAP elements to disrupt the gradual return of normalcy and discourage residents from rebuilding their lives.
The gallant response of the troops, however, thwarted the terrorists’ plans and reaffirmed the Nigerian military’s resolve to sustain the ongoing momentum in the counterterrorism operations across the North East.
The latest success adds to a series of recent operational gains recorded by troops of Operation HADIN KAI in their relentless efforts to eliminate remnants of terrorist groups and ensure lasting peace in Borno State and the Lake Chad region.
