The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest and handover of fugitive suspect Victor Benjamin Fejemirokun, believed to be responsible for the abduction and alleged murder of a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer and her young daughter in Osun State.
According to a statement by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer, the suspect was transferred to the Nigeria Police Force on Monday by the Ghana Police Service in Accra, after a coordinated intelligence-led operation.
Fejemirokun reportedly fled Nigeria shortly after the crime, prompting an international manhunt. Acting on credible intelligence that he was hiding in Ghana, authorities in the neighbouring country apprehended him and immediately notified INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja. A team from NCB Abuja proceeded to Accra, where the suspect was officially handed over to Nigerian officials.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commiserated with the bereaved family and assured that the investigation will be “thorough and taken to a logical conclusion,” adding that the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigations. He also praised the Ghana Police Service for its professionalism and strong collaboration.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens and ensuring that fugitives, no matter where they flee, are brought to justice through strengthened international cooperation and intelligence sharing.
