The Anambra State Governorship Election is progressing peacefully across Ihiala, Ogbaru, Ayamelum Local Government Areas and other parts of the state, as the Nigeria Police Force maintains a strong and coordinated security presence to ensure order and safety.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Command, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, operatives have been strategically deployed across polling units, collation centers, waterways, and border communities to deter any form of disruption and to reassure voters of their safety while exercising their civic rights.
He noted that the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, continues to dominate all strategic areas across the state, ensuring a secure environment for voters, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and electoral materials.
SP Tochukwu reaffirmed the Police Command’s commitment to maintaining strict neutrality, protecting the integrity of the electoral process, and upholding law and order throughout the election period.
He further urged residents to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and to comply with all lawful instructions issued by security personnel on duty.
“The Command assures all political actors and citizens that it remains committed to safeguarding lives and property while ensuring a transparent and credible election,” he added.
