Participants of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 40, 2018 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State, have held their second reunion in Abuja, rekindling old bonds and reaffirming their dedication to the ideals of the Institute and the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI).
The well-attended event, which took place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Citypot, Abuja, brought together members from across Nigeria and the diaspora. It featured moments of reflection, camaraderie, and renewed pledges to advance national policy formulation and development—core objectives of NIPSS and AANI.
In his welcome remarks, the Chairman of the Reunion Planning Committee, Alhaji Kabiru Sani, a retired Deputy Director General of the State Security Service, expressed delight over the strong bond that continues to unite the class. He commended members for sustaining their spirit of friendship and professional collaboration since their graduation in 2018.
Also speaking, the Deputy Monitor General, Barrister (Mrs.) Kemi O. Sijuade, mni, praised the committee’s dedication and urged members to maintain the values of unity, patriotism, and commitment to national service that defined their time at the Institute.
The highlight of the event was the goodwill message delivered by the Special Guest of Honour, His Excellency Ambassador Emmanuel Obi Okafor, mni, National President of AANI. He lauded members of SEC 40 for their consistent support to the Association and their various contributions to nation-building. Ambassador Okafor encouraged them to remain united, support one another, and sustain regular interactions, noting that the strength of AANI lies in continued fellowship and shared purpose.
He also presented commemorative souvenirs to participants as tokens of appreciation. The reunion featured a celebration of one of their colleagues, Mr. Isaac Ehiozuwa, mni, former Edo State Head of Service, who marked his birthday during the gathering. Members sang birthday songs and offered prayers in his honour.
In a solemn tribute, members observed a minute’s silence for their departed colleagues — Brigadier General O.A. James (mni), Assistant Inspector General of Police Yunana Babas (mni), and Deputy Inspector General of Police Moses Jituboh (mni). The class paid glowing tributes to their memory, describing them as distinguished officers and true patriots.
The SEC 40, 2018 class comprises notable Nigerians across public and private sectors, including the Presidents of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), as well as the Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, among others making significant national impact.
The reunion ended on a convivial note with group photographs, lunch, and discussions focused on strengthening class cohesion and supporting ongoing AANI initiatives aimed at deepening Nigeria’s policy and leadership development.
