The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, OFR, on Thursday declared Exercise Haske Biyu 2025 officially closed, commending the professionalism, commitment, and collaborative spirit that defined the three-week multi-agency training at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji.
Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the closing ceremony, Gen. Musa described the exercise as a “critical platform for enhancing interoperability among stakeholders in Nigeria’s security architecture” and lauded the College for maintaining high standards of joint training.
According to him, the exercise – which featured indoor battle simulations, planning drills, and scenario-based engagements – has once again reinforced AFCSC’s central role in shaping the future of internal security operations in Nigeria.
The CDS further noted the relevance of the 2025 theme, “Family and National Security”, stressing that the strength of the nation’s security begins with strong family values and cohesive communities.
He praised the inclusion of civic responsibility, moral resilience, and family dynamics in the exercise framework, describing it as both timely and impactful in addressing Nigeria’s internal security challenges.
Gen. Musa also acknowledged the participation of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, at the opening ceremony, saying her keynote address underscored the national importance of the exercise and left a lasting impression on participants.
Addressing participants drawn from the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as foreign militaries, the CDS commended their resilience and urged them to apply lessons learned towards “solution-driven action in our collective quest for peace and stability.”
He reaffirmed AFCSC’s relevance in producing world-class officers and fostering enduring partnerships, while encouraging the College to remain steadfast in preparing mission-ready leaders for Nigeria and allied nations.
“With every beginning comes an end,” Gen. Musa concluded. “Having concluded this rigorous and impactful exercise, and in keeping with military tradition, it is my singular honour and privilege to formally declare Exercise Haske Biyu 2025 closed.”
Participants concluded the exercise with the requisite knowledge on national problem-solving strategies and enhanced inter-agency collaboration in resolving national security issues using a whole-of-society approach.
The exercise, themed “Family and National Security”, highlighted the critical role family units play in maintaining national security and stability was declared open by the first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who brought together participants drawn from student officers of Senior Course 47/2024 of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, ministries, departments and agencies. Others are the media, Non-governmental organisations, strategic partners and other professional groups.
