Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, have rescued a kidnapped victim, Alhaji Ali Adamu, during a swift operation in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State on Tuesday, 29 October 2025.
According to Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the rescue followed a distress call received by troops deployed in Lau, reporting the abduction of Alhaji Adamu, who was kidnapped while sleeping outside his compound. Acting promptly on the information, the troops launched a hot pursuit of the kidnappers.
Realizing the troops were closing in, the abductors abandoned their victim and fled into nearby bushes. Alhaji Adamu was safely rescued and reunited with his family without any ransom paid.
In a related development, local vigilantes and hunters on patrol around Maraban Kunini apprehended a 30-year-old suspect, Mr. Lalau Adamu, believed to be involved in the abduction. On arrival at the scene, troops found the suspect injured from mob action and promptly evacuated him under military protection to a medical facility for treatment. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Commending the successful operation, the Commander 6 Brigade / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, lauded the cooperation among troops, vigilantes, and local hunters, which he described as crucial to the rescue. He urged residents to continue sharing credible and timely information with security agencies to strengthen ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the state.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while sustaining its operations to rid Taraba and its environs of all criminal elements.
